Canucks, Lions, Whitecaps & Jockeys
All Appearing in Support of Local Charities

Vancouver, B.C. (July 18/18) – It is a rare occasion when legendary sports personalities from the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Hastings Racecourse are able to mix and mingle with their fans at an outdoor social gathering.

The 2nd annual Sports Alumni Day provides that opportunity on Sunday, July 29 during an afternoon of live thoroughbred racing at Hastings Racecourse that begins at 1:50 p.m.
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, BC Lions Alumni Foundation Support Fund and Covenant House Vancouver as the Whitecaps FC designated charity will share in the proceeds of a silent auction, 50/50 draw and Marquee Tent VIP meet-and-greet with the athletes.

The attractive silent auction includes Ultimate Game Day Experience packages as well as autographed items from the Canucks, Lions and Whitecaps FC.  The Canucks Alumni package for four includes a pre-game buffet in the press box at Rogers Arena prior to a 2018-19 regular season NHL game with seats in the Canucks Alumni private suite. Also added to this year’s package is a complimentary spot for one individual to play in the 2019 Canucks Alumni golf tournament.

The BC Lions Game Day Experience is two pre-season sideline passes including a photo session with head coach Wally Buono, two executive Club seats to a 2018 regular season game and two autographed Lions’ replica jerseys.

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC donation package offers four premium club tickets to a 2019 regular season home match including pitchside viewing of the pre-match warm-up, a meet & greet with Carl Valentine, plus a Whitecaps FC team signed jersey and team signed ball.

Hastings Racecourse at Day at the Races includes brunch for four in Silks, complimentary valet parking, live racing programs plus a visit to the broadcast booth high above track level to watch Hall of Fame announcer Dan Jukich call a live race.

All four sports organizations will have a special race named in their honour on Sports Alumni Day: the Hastings Jockey Club Purse at approximately 2:20 p.m.; the Whitecaps FC Purse at 2:52 p.m.; the BC Lions Purse at 3:24 p.m. and the Canucks Alumni Purse at 3:56 p.m.

The ever-popular Canucks mascot Fin will be joined by his equally famous mascot companions Leo the Lion (along with his guardian angel Felions) and the dashing Spike from the Whitecaps FC.
The list of sports personalities planning to attend on Sunday, July 29 continues to grow daily. Spokespersons for the groups are Kirk McLean, Gino Odjick and Harold Snepsts from the Canucks; Sean Millington, Nick Hebeler and Jamie Taras from the BC Lions; Bob and Sam Lenarduzzi and Carl Valentine from the Whitecaps FC; and legendary jockeys Chris Loseth, Tom Wolski and Chad Hoverson from Hastings Racecourse.

While there is no admission for live racing at Hastings Racecourse, VIP tickets to the Marquee Tent for Sports Alumni Day are available online at
The $25 VIP ticket, with all sales going to the charities,  includes a burger, beverage, live racing program, meet and greet plus a ballot for  Hastings Racecourse Day at the Races package.
