Another great and popular Hastings jockey – Chris Loseth – retired from riding in 2005 but has continued working for his wife and trainer Tracy McCarthy.  But not for long, according to Province racing writer Tom Wolski who learned this week that Chris will celebrate his 58th birthday on October 5 with the announcement he has decided to retire from the horse racing industry and spend some serious time fishing with his friends.

Chris retired as a jockey after having an incredible 26,055 mounds that resulted in 3,365 trips to the winner’s circle.  Loseth is a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, the B.C. Horse Racing Hall of Fame and the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.
