Mike's Race Analysis September 2, 2007
Race #1
1st - #5 No Ka Oi | 2nd - #1 Entry | 3rd - #4 Regal Dream
COMMENTARY : The #5 NO KA OI is back in sprinting at Hastings and that really has turned out to be her best distance as she showed once again down at Emerald winning her second sprint of the season (lost one via DQ). There looks to be enough to speed to help her out so I like her chances a lot today. The #1 ENTRY headed by the #1a LADY RAJ seems to be a little better going farther but at this level she might be able to get up in time. The #4 REGAL DREAM is nice solid filly that seldom runs a bad race and I think her versatility in racing style will allow her to get into the top three.

1st - #2 Nineleventurbo | 2nd - #6 Earl's Diamond | 3rd - #4 Coeur Joie
COMMENTARY : The #2 NINELEVENTURBO is down at the level where he just missed three starts back and this guy has run some big races at this trip and I’ll hope another good performance is coming today. The #6 EARL’S DIAMOND is a consistent sort that won’t mind the extra distance. The #4 COEUR JOIE is always tough at this level and if can get into a good spot early he has a good shot as well.
Race #3
1st - #2 Classic County | 2nd - #4 J D’s Carson Copy | 3rd - #1 Max Day
COMMENTARY : The #2 CLASSIC COUNTY had a brutal trip in his last and still managed to save third money; he’s bred to improve at this longer trip and I like him in this spot. The #4 J D’S CARSON COPY didn’t have any shot last time as he was well back early behind a slow pace and I thought he did well to get up for second; he’ll need to position himself closer if he’s to win today but even if he drifts back early I like him to be in the money. The #1 MAX DAY is a pace horse that didn’t get into a favourable position from an outside post last time out so I’ll give him another shot from the rail this afternoon.
Race #4
1st - #7 Wild n’ Wicca | 2nd - #6 My Special Angel | 3rd - #5 Juvee Hall
COMMENTARY : The #7 WILD N’ WICCA has some quick works in preparation for her career debut, she’s by a hot sire (Finality) and this doesn’t look to be too tough of a spot so I’ll take her to upset the favoured #6 MY SPECIAL ANGEL who just missed in her last race but I thought she had every shot to win so I’ll try and beat her today. The #5 JUVEE HALL makes her first start sporting some nice morning drills and gets leading rider so she could be ‘live’.
Race #5
1st - #1 You’rejustlikeme | 2nd - #6 Belle Of Rainier | 3rd - #2 Call Her Kelly
COMMENTARY : The #1 YOU’REJUSTLIKEME easily crushed a field of $15,000 fillies in an excellent time and with this dash only coming up minimally tougher she should win right back. The #6 BELLE OF RAINIER makes her first start off of the claim and her new connections opt to run her right back for the same price; it’s tough to fault her form she’s a consistent filly that might get a good pace to run at. The #2 CALL HER KELLY just broke her maiden in a slow time and is another that’ll appreciate a fast and contested pace being set up front.
Race #6
1st - #8 Louder | 2nd - #7 Dalton Green | 3rd - #2 Afternoon Express
COMMENTARY : The #8 LOUDER should’ve won his last but was hung out three wide early and five wide throughout the final half-mile so he obviously was much the best finishing second by only a length. The #7 DALTON GREEN is a solid performer at or near this level and with this race a little void of early speed he might be able to capitalize and take this group gate to wire. The #2 AFTERNOON EXPRESS hasn’t been in good form this year but perhaps the easier opponents will bring out a better result for him.
Race #7
1st - #4 Sir Gallovic | 2nd - #6 Bad Sneakers | 3rd - #2 Royal Sovereign
COMMENTARY : The #4 SIR GALLOVIC turned in by far the best performance by a three year old this year in his allowance win four weeks ago and if he gets anywhere close to that kind of performance again today he’ll once again win by many. The #6 BAD SNEAKERS had a wide trip in his latest and did well to save second; he’s nice colt on a fast track and it appears that he’ll get a better trip this time so he looks to be the main danger to the morning line favourite #4 SIR GALLOVIC. The #2 ROYAL SOVEREIGN showed signs of life in his last sprint as he closed like a freight train out five wide to get the runner-up spot; he’s bred to love this longer trip and could be a big factor late if the pace is hot.
Race #8
1st - #6 Brymic’s Starlite | 2nd - #2 Unspoken Thoughts | 3rd - #4 Settowin
COMMENTARY : The #6 BRYMIC’S STARLITE improved a lot in his second start and with the barn and rider switch I’m sure there will be plenty of action on her and I’ll think she’ll reward her backers with a win. The #2 UNSPOKEN THOUGHTS is making her sixth start at this trip and just missed in her last. The #4 SETTOWIN was a little slow to begin but finished well so with a better start she could be a threat.
