Mike's Race Analysis October 7, 2007

Race #1

1st - #6 Badgett's Star | 2nd - #1 Sultry Eyes | 3rd - #4 Grayross Gal

COMMENTARY : The #6 BADGETT’S STAR is taking a huge dip in price and with no real other speed lining up against her she’s going to be very tough to catch. The #1 SULTRY EYES has the best shot to nail my top pick, she has enough speed to keep that one in her sights and if she finishes like she has in her last two races then she could get the winner’s cheque. The #4 GRAYROSS GAL always seems to put herself in a spot to win each dash but over the past two seasons she’s only be able to get her picture taken once; she’s down in price and could threaten the top two but only with her best effort.

Race #2

1st - #7 Against The Sky | 2nd - #4 Minutes Apart | 3rd - #2 Sindi's Success

COMMENTARY : The #7 AGAINST THE SKY is a perfect 3 for 3 at this trip and with her likely getting an excellent trip on or near the lead I really think she’s a ‘lock’ this afternoon. The #4 MINUTES APART has been razor sharp of late and showed amazing grit in coming back to win her latest after looking beaten at the eighth-pole; she may not be as gifted as some others in here but she’s on her game which is a big plus at this time of year. The #2 SINID’S SUCCESS is one of the nicer fillies in here but she isn’t as sharp as some so I’ve left her in the third spot but is definitely capable of better.

Race #3

1st - #6 P.S. Miss G I | 2nd - #4 Money X Change | 3rd - #2 Queen's Emblem

COMMENTARY : The #6 P.S. MISS G I exits a live heat which has produced three next-out winners and with her working well for her return I’ll side with her today. The #4 MONEY X CHANGE showed far better gate speed in his last race (which was last weekend) and battled on the lead for a little more than five furlongs before tiring late; he gets a shorter trip today and if he breaks like he did that day he’ll be tough to beat this afternoon.

Race #4

1st - #4 Zoomington | 2nd - #6 Uncanny Yodel | 3rd - #5 Taraqqi

COMMENTARY : The #4 ZOOMINGTON has improved with each start and is sitting on a win; he has a better post today which will enable him to stay a little closer to the pace and that should be all he needs to get his first victory. The #6 UNCANNY YODEL chased the pace out in the three path throughout the entire race and did well to finish fourth; he’ll get blinkers for his 21st start as a maiden and with this dash coming up light for speed he could be a big pace factor. The #5 TARAQQI wasn’t disgraced in his comebacker and is likely to improve a lot off of that race; he has speed and a little more fitness into him which could make him dangerous today.

Race #5

1st - #5 Holy Nova | 2nd - #7 Yoorock Gal | 3rd - #4 Thendoftherainbow

COMMENTARY : The #5 HOLY NOVA was purchased privately about six weeks ago in hopes of running in the B.C. Oaks but those plans were laid to rest when she had to miss some valuable training time after her acquisition; she’s facing older mares but this is not really an overly tough group so I think she can win in her Hastings debut. The #7 YOOROCK GAL is another three year old filly in the lineup that ran very well in her latest and if she can get a decent trip could be the one that knocks off my top pick and also she has a tactical advantage on the #5 HOLY NOVA which is another plus in her corner. The #4 THENDOFTHERAINBOW is an underrated filly that has had to run in some difficult spots which has made it extremely tough to develop this filly after her maiden score but actually she’s still performed admirably; she’s back in sprinting so the connections have sharpened her up with a quick drill Wednesday morning so she could be a big factor as well.

Race #6

1st - #1 Dancer's Halo | 2nd - #5 Miss Jones | 3rd - #6 Miss Hap

COMMENTARY : The #1 DANCER’S HALO closed up nicely to get the runner-up spot in just her second start of the year and will likely improve off of that race. The #5 MISS JONES gets into a soft spot for her career debut and judging by some of her works she has some ability and the rider/trainer combo have clicked at a high percentage this year as well. The #6 MISS HAP is lightly raced and will try blinkers today so I’ll give her another shot.

Race #7

1st - #5 Golden Pursuit | 2nd - #6 Tango Mango | 3rd - #1 Entry

COMMENTARY : The #5 GOLDEN PURSUIT is a solid horse going long but showed he can sprint with his runner-up effort to eventual stakes winner Winter Warning in a near track-record time. The #6 TANGO MANGO finished in behind my top pick that day but didn’t get the best of trips; he won in a good time in his latest and looks to be a force in this dash as well. The #1 FRENCH ROAST looks to be the stronger half of the Troy Taylor entry but both can sprint very well and could be threats with the right trip.

Race #8

1st - #2 Dancing Allstar | 2nd - #3 Rosada | 3rd - #6 Remarkable Miss

COMMENTARY : The #2 DANCING ALLSTAR laid some amazing splits for two year old filly in the $66,000 Sales Stakes and cruised to an easy victory; the competition is marginally tougher this time but with her gifted speed she likely won’t be threatened again this afternoon. The #3 ROSADA looked in winning the $54,000 Lassie keeping herself unbeaten since going in blinkers but her task is a monumental one that will call for her to be 7 to 10 lengths better than she was that day if she’s going get near the ‘DANCING ALLSTAR EXPRESS’. The same goes for the #6 REMARKABLE MISS who obviously didn’t run her race in the Sales Stakes but has come back to work extremely well and looks better prepared for this tough task but will likely have to settle for a TRIACTA placing.

Race #9

1st - #4 Karazteca | 2nd - #1 Cassiar | 3rd - #9 Kings Fjord

COMMENTARY : The #4 KARAZTECA was very game in his career debut hanging close to the pace and running on well at the end; a repeat of his last likely gets him the money. The #1 CASSIAR was closing up nicely on the rail in his debut and with another good draw and perhaps a little more gate speed he could threaten for the win. The #9 KINGS FJORD was very green in his debut and didn’t run his solid work tab; I think he’s better than that race indicates and I’m willing give him another chance.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!
