Mike's Race Analysis October 6, 2007

Race #1

1st - #9 Jokers Wild | 2nd - #4 Dare Ya Too | 3rd - #8 Morementum

COMMENTARY : The #9 JOKERS WILD still has to get into the race but if he does a repeat of his last performance gets him the money with this easier crew. The #4 DARE YA TOO wasn’t disgraced in her debut checking in fourth in a pretty strong heat; if there aren’t any scratches then I really her chances of winning. The #8 MOREMENTUM turned in an excellent final prep in 35.80 and could be ‘live’ in her first career start.

Race #2

1st - #2 Not Just Dreaming | 2nd - #5 Mystic Pass | 3rd - #6 Regal Daniell

COMMENTARY : The #2 NOT JUST DREAMING had a rough trip from an outside in her latest at this level and still managed to get the third spot so with her drawing inside and adding blinkers I think she can win the money. The #5 MYSTIC PASS has been much better in her last two races with conditional $8,000 company and if she maintains her current form she has an excellent of winning her first race of the season. The #6 REGAL DANIELL had a wide trip in her latest which caused her to settle for fourth money; she’s on the outside again but if she can a break with the trip she’s every bit as good as the top two.

Race #3

1st - #6 Chilling Kat | 2nd - #2 Cielo's Lad | 3rd - #1 Entry

COMMENTARY : The #6 CHILLING KAT was given some time off after a disappointing run last July; he’s been training well for his return and looks like one (he’s a big tall gelding) that’ll appreciate the extra ground and he also gets leading rider which is a big plus. The #2 CIELO’S LAD hooked into a big class dropper and ran well but had to settle for the runner-up cheque; he’ll be trying a new distance this afternoon but with this race coming up light for speed he might be able to wire this group with Quincy Welch in the irons. The Ed Thompson entry have both been inconsistent this year but when they are at their best they can both be a factor.

Race #4

1st - #5 Annikat | 2nd - #1 Entry | 3rd - #4 Vyking Venture

COMMENTARY : For my money the #5 ANNIKAT is the best filly in the race but she’s just a tiny gal that might have a problem with this longer trip but I’ll gamble that her grit with pull her through and get the win. The #1 SELENA’S OPINION is the strong half of the Bud Malette owned entry who just won at this same level and distance; she’s nicely drawn for her tracking style and should be tough again today. The #4 VYKING VENTURE was impeded early causing her to lose position and more importantly she lost interest very quickly; her lone try going long was a decent one and was good enough to put her in contention with these fillies so she has a shot as well.

Race #5

1st - #2 Surgical Strike | 2nd - #8 Osolucky | 3rd - #3 Rip Cord

COMMENTARY : The #2 SURGICAL STRIKE has had his best results when he can get the lead going a mile and a sixteenth and it appears that he’ll get that pace scenario today so I have to lean towards him in a very competitive race. The #8 OSOLUCKY finally ran like we all knew he could last time as he crushed an easier field of $5,000 claimers in a very good time; things are tougher today but if he can work out a decent trip then he has a good shot of keeping his winning streak going. The #3 RIP CORD wasn’t a factor in his latest but he never has been a sprinter so with him stretching out to his preferred distance he deserves a long look with these.

Race #6

1st - #10 Zodiacal Light | 2nd - #9 Goldy Fox | 3rd - #3 Chamaca

COMMENTARY : The #10 ZODIACAL LIGHT is making her return after a lengthy rest and will be asked to go long but it’s a distance she’s bred to like and she’s facing company that she should like as well so I’ll give her a shot. The #9 GOLDY FOX was a distant second with similar and if she can get a little better trip then she may improve on that placing. The #3 CHAMACA was chasing the pace out in the three and four path and actually did well to only lose second money by two lengths so she should be followed back today especially with Gutierrez staying on board.

Race #7

1st - #4 Windy Day | 2nd - #5 Louder | 3rd - #7 Dalton Green

COMMENTARY : The #4 WINDY DAY is in at a better level after trying the $25,000 types last time out; there is some speed in here but I think he can handle all comers when he’s on his game. The #5 LOUDER could get a nice pace being set in front of him and if he gets a hot pace scenario then he’ll be tough to fend off. The #7 DALTON GREEN has been rock solid at this level and distance so he deserves respect in this spot as well.

Race #8

1st - #8 Heart To Spare | 2nd - #2 War Victress | 3rd - #1 Entry

COMMENTARY : The #8 HEART TO SPARE was very game in defeat last time as she battled on a very quick pace and did well to hold the runner-up spot; there doesn’t seem to be as much pace in this dash so I think she’ll stay the entire trip. The #2 WAR VICTRESS didn’t get beat by much in her last try at this level and was racing erraticly through the lane so it’s not a surprise to see the connections opting to add blinkers today in hopes of improving her enough to get into the winner’s circle. The #1 DRIVER was a troubled third in her last and if the pace scenario is hotly contested again today then she’ll be a big factor in the late stages.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND ENJOY YOUR AFTERNOON AT THE RACES !!!!
