Mike's Race Analysis November 4, 2007
Race #1
1st - #2 Arkhill | 2nd - #5 Callinan | 3rd - #1 Henry West
COMMENTARY : The #2 ARKHILL has drawn a very soft field this afternoon and should win quite comfortably. The #5 CALLINAN closed with a rush to beat bottom level maidens in a good time; looks to be the next best. The #1 HENRY WEST just missed last time in his first try around two turns; still a maiden though.
Race #2
1st - #6 She's Nobodys Fool | 2nd - #7 Driver | 3rd - #1 Bamboo Diva
COMMENTARY : The #6 SHE'S NOBODYS FOOL was a troubled third last time and might have been right there for the win with a clean trip so she looks like the logical choice. The #7 DRIVER made some progress late and could get a better pace scenario for her off-the-pace style this afternoon. The #1 BAMBOO DIVA had an encouraging debut and will race on Lasix for her first attempt at six furlongs.
Race #3
1st - #4 Lord Kaiser | 2nd - #6 I'mnottalkintoyou | 3rd - #1 Sheriff Bill
COMMENTARY : The #4 LORD KAISER is taking a big dip in price and should get his first career win. The #6 I’MNOTTALKINTOYOU pulled up in his debut but has been given some time off and has been working well for his return so I’ll gamble that whatever was bothering him that day is behind him. The #1 SHERIFF BILL has improved noticeably since taking the blinkers off two starts back and will be a huge factor on the head end.
Race #4
1st - #4 And All That Jazz | 2nd - #1 Xalibou | 3rd - #5 Kadence
COMMENTARY : Trainer Craig MacPherson will be the busiest guy in the paddock as he’ll saddle four of the six runners, I think the best one of his runners is the #4 AND ALL THAT JAZZ who raced against older horses and performed extremely well so with him back in with three year olds he should prove tough to catch. The #1 XALIBOU has had a good season and today he should get a nice trip laying just in behind the speed. The #5 KADENCE has split his campaign between Alberta and Hastings but his better results have been in Alberta although when he raced here at Hastings he was in some tough spots; tough call but he’s talented colt that could easily jump up and win.

1st - #2 Miss Jen | 2nd - #4 Mining Interactive | 3rd - #6 Highjinks
COMMENTARY : The #2 MISS JEN showed speed for a change in her last race and she almost lasted the entire trip; she’s nicely drawn again and a repeat performance should get her the money. The #4 MINING INTERACTIVE wasn’t disgraced in her first try at this longer trip and this rider/ trainer combo has clicked at an amazing 64% over the past two seasons. The #6 HIGHJINKS looks like a filly that’ll enjoy this longer journey so I’ll give her a shot as well.
Race #6
1st - #6 Kokeeno | 2nd - #4 Saanichton | 3rd - #1 Legally Mine
COMMENTARY : The #6 KOKEENO had a rough trip in her last and still was right there for the win so if she can get a better trip today she should win the money even though she’s racing with the boys. The #4 SAANICHTON made a late move to get third place in his return and should improve on that race; major threat !! The #1 LEGALLY MINE has some speed and gets the rail so he could a big factor as well.
Race #7
1st - #4 I'mnaughtyandnice | 2nd - #5 Vyking Venture | 3rd - #6 How Iz It Sarah
COMMENTARY : The #4 I’MNAUGHTYANDNICE crushed a field of similar fillies a couple of weeks back and unless someone chases her early she should rack up another victory at a short price. The #5 VYKING VENTURE struck some trouble going long last time which contributed to her disappointing showing as the favourite; she should be in a good position tracking the speed but she will need someone to put some pressure on my top pick if she’s going to win the money. The #6 HOW IZ IT SARAH was a distant runner-up in her latest but still looks to be the best of the rest.
Race #8
1st - #3 Kwik'e Mark | 2nd - #1 Quatari | 3rd - #8 Chivago
COMMENTARY : The #3 KWIK’E MARK has been in good form of late but doesn’t have win to show for all of his hard work although I think that’ll change today as he faces a pretty soft group that he should beat. The #1 QUATARI shocked everyone with his wire-to-wire score with $5,000 three year olds; he’s obviously found a distance that suits him and he could tough again today. The #8 CHIVAGO keeps taking home small paycheques and I think that will happen again this afternoon.
Race #9
1st - #3 Windy Day | 2nd - #5 Corone Real | 3rd - #9 Top Tech
COMMENTARY : The #3 WINDY DAY has won two races recently when down near this level and is strictly the one to beat but he will need to be at his best as this race has come up pretty tough. The #5 CORONE REAL is regaining his earlier sharp form and will be a strong pace factor. The #9 TOP TECH is jumping up in price but is also sharp right now and if the track comes up wet that moves him up even more.
Race #10
1st - #1 Commodore Craig | 2nd - #6 Agro | 3rd - #4 Sly Striker
COMMENTARY : The #1 COMMODORE CRAIG defeated a similar group in an excellent time and as long as he can overcome the inside post (which has been a problem for him in the past) he should be in line to get his fourth victory of the year. The #6 AGRO finished just in behind the top one last time and could easily turn the tables with a decent trip. The #4 SLY STRIKER has speed and is in with easier today.
Race #11
1st - #1 Entry | 2nd - #4 Bad Sneakers | 3rd - #5 Ookashada
COMMENTARY : I’m not sure which of the three Taylor entrants are running but I like all three of them so whatever combination of horses that shows up in the paddock I’ll go with. A couple of three year olds the #4 BAD SNEAKERS and the #5 OOKASHADA should be the main threats.
Race #12
1st - #4 Trinidad Bay | 2nd - #8 Jackson County | 3rd - #2 Northern Theatrics
COMMENTARY : The #4 TRINIDAD BAY is improving and should get a solid pace to run at. The #8 JACKSON COUNTY has been threatening to break through with a win but this will be a new distance for him. The #2 NORTHERN THEATRICS ran a lot better in his last as he checked in fourth despite a wide trip; he too will appreciate a contested pace being set and could get a big chunk of the purse.
