Mike's Race Analysis November 3, 2007
Race #1
1st - #3 Tyger Gold | 2nd - #6 Patriotic | 3rd - #1 Northern Skipper
COMMENTARY : The #3 TYGER GOLD is taking a huge drop in price and should make short work of this group. The #6 PATRIOTIC woke up with a top effort when dropped to this level last time; his lone win this season came sprinting when he had an outside draw !!! The #1 NORTHERN SKIPPER had a tough trip last time which contributed to his no-threat run last time; he has the rail and also has the best speed in the lineup so he could turn things around this afternoon.
Race #2
1st - #1 Mismantle | 2nd - #2 Acknowledge | 3rd - #3 Mykentuckyprincess
COMMENTARY : The #1 MISMANTLE is in an easier spot today and I’ll gamble that she can carry her speed the entire way with these gals. The #2 ACKNOWLEDGE could take the trip in behind the speed and if there’s a pace duel (which could easily happen) she might finally get the big prize. The #3 MYKENTUCKYPRINCESS is an unknown that has speed so give her a look.
Race #3
1st - #6 My Hearts Desire | 2nd - #5 Saint Barz |3rd - #3 Tacky
COMMENTARY : The #6 MY HEARTS DESIRE should be able to clear from an outside post and get a comfortable lead and I’ll hope that he can stay there. The #5 SAINT BARZ had some traffic problems in the late going or he would’ve been right there for the win; he should get a nice trip and if someone can put mild pressure on my top pick then he’ll be tough to fend off. The #3 TACKY made a belated rally to get the runner-up spot last week but if the front end gets crowded early then he’ll have a good shot to win otherwise he’ll probably come with another belated rally for a minor award.
Race #4
1st - #6 Afleet B's | 2nd - #4 Land Of Silver | 3rd - #3 Rich Debut
COMMENTARY : The #6 AFLEET B’S has put things together of late and with her looking like the main speed I have to side with her. The #4 LAND OF SILVER is shortening up in distance but she’s sharp and could catch them all. The #3 RICH DEBUT was in against older mares and actually performed reasonably well so I’ll give her another shot as she returns to her own age group.
Race #5
1st - #2 Badgett's Star | 2nd - #6 Grayross Gal | 3rd - #3 Not Just Dreaming
COMMENTARY : The #2 BADGETT’S STAR did lose to the #6 GRAYROSS GAL two starts back but it was her first start off of a big layoff so with her having a top effort since their last meeting I like her to get some revenge today. The #3 NOT JUST DREAMING finished a no-threat second behind the #2 BADGETT’S STAR last time but if the top two get into a heated battle then she should be the one that capitalizes.
Race #6
1st - #5 Ghost Pirate | 2nd - #2 Osolucky | 3rd - #4 Fire Boss
COMMENTARY : The #5 GHOST PIRATE easily bested a similar field last week and with no real other front end speed to bother him he should come right back with a victory. The #2 OSOLUCKY is better going the longer trips but still should complete the EXACTOR. The #4 FIRE BOSS will make an equipment change and go without the blinkers for the first time this year so we could see an improvement in him today.
Race #7
1st - #3 Zippy Zak | 2nd - #7 Wings Of An Eagle | 3rd - #4 Paulswithdavid
COMMENTARY : The #3 ZIPPY ZAK is back in sprinting after an unsuccessful try going long and considering he’s beaten most of these lately he should be tough once again. The #7 WINGS OF AN EAGLE ran very well to finish second behind ‘Zippy’ last time and with him coming back sooner (he was off for two months prior to his last race) he could turn the tables on my top pick. The #4 PAULSWITHDAVID has speed and if he can clear early could be a tough one to catch.
Race #8
1st - #8 Turbo Tommy | 2nd - #1 Superior Straits | 3rd - #5 J D's Carson Copy
COMMENTARY : The #8 TURBO TOMMY finally broke his maiden last time out and with him stretching out to a better distance for him and getting an outside (he’s more comfortable on the outside) post I like him to come right back with a win. The #1 SUPERIOR STRAITS most not have cared for the track last time as he really lost interest quickly but I’ll give him another shot as he’s the best horse in the race ON HIS BEST DAY !!!
Race #9
1st - #2 Cusack | 2nd - #5 Lord Vic | 3rd - #4 Crescent Remark
COMMENTARY : The #2 CUSACK ran by the very stubborn ‘Newton John’ to win #3 on the Marathon Series in impressive fashion but unfortunately had to skip the last marathon event which was won by the #5 LORD VIC. These two look like the EXACTOR but I think that the #2 CUSACK is the better horse of the two and may prevail this afternoon. The #4 CRESCENT REMARK did win this same race two years back but just doesn’t seem to be the same horse this year although he should still get into the top three.
Race #10
1st - #1 Zodiacal Light | 2nd - #6 Rockahula Miss | 3rd - #3 Chamaca
COMMENTARY : The #1 ZODIACAL LIGHT encountered some trouble in the stretch or she would’ve been second so on the stretch out to a mile and a sixteenth I really like her chances this time. The #6 ROCKAHULA MISS had a wide trip in her last and still almost managed to pull out a win; she’s unproven at this longer trip but is bred to like it. The #3 CHAMACA fits in the mix as well and with a good trip could win the money.
