Mike's Race Analysis July 20, 2007

Race #1

1st - #2 K. D. Day | 2nd - #5 Sultry Eyes | 3rd - #4 My Only Love

COMMENTARY : The #2 K.D. DAY is in a much better spot today and even though there is a fair amount of pace in here I like her to win; she's run well from just of the pace in the past and at this level I think she can use any style and win the money. The # 5 SULTRY EYES took advantage of an extremely fast pace when she won (although she was ALL OUT to win) at this trip two starts ago and with the threat of another contested battle on the head end she must be respected. The #4 MY ONLY LOVE has sprinted well in both of her starts with conditional $8,000 mares and moves into open company this afternoon; her numbers stack up well so don't sell her short.

Race #2

1st - #3 Raymer Road | 2nd - #1 Proud Son | 3rd - #2 Second Story Boy

COMMENTARY : The #3 RAYMER ROAD has been very sharp in his last two and returns to a sprint today and should get a good trip sitting close to the pace which is all he'll need for another big effort. The #1 PROUD SON is the obvious choice in this dash as he looks to be the lone speed but he hasn't been as effective this year so until he wins one I'll leave him in the second spot. The #2 SECOND STORY BOY has been deceivingly good this spring getting pay cheques in all four of his starts at this level; he'll be in a good spot early and should be in the TRIACTA.

Race #3

1st - #6 Quagmire | 2nd - #2 Goldrush Victory | 3rd - #5 Fearsome Foursome

COMMENTARY : The #6 QUAGMIRE was ultra-game in his win three weeks ago battled on a fast pace and just lasting with slightly easier competition; he's shown success at this longer trip (may be better for him ??) and I think he'll get to set a sensible pace and should be tough to catch. The #2 GOLDRUSH VICTORY will probably elect to let the speed go and take a seat just in behind the leaders and he'll have every opportunity to win from there. The #5 FEARSOME FOURSOME hasn't been as 'fearsome' this year but still looks to be the best of the rest.

Race #4

1st - #6 Autograph | 2nd - #1 Entry | 3rd - #3 Jajas Legacy

COMMENTARY : The #6 AUTOGRAPH closed up nicely in her debut going three and a half furlongs which should set up her up beautifully for today's race at six panels. Both the #1 ROARING WIND and the #1a MOUNTAIN COUNTY have been training well and have strong pedigrees so they both deserve respect in this spot. The #3 JAJAS LEGACY is a half brother to last season's two year old champ OOKASHADA and current top three year old; he's been working comfortably for his debut and hails from a barn that is 'red hot'.

Race #5

1st - #7 Winter Warning | 2nd - #5 Nineleventurbo | 3rd - #3 Tango Mango

COMMENTARY : The #7 WINTER WARNING was an easy winner going long at this level and with not much speed in the lineup I can see him wiring this group again even at this shorter trip. The #5 NINELEVENTURBO didn't get a clear run last time and had to settle for second as he had to weave his way through the field down on the inside which is not the easiest thing to try and do; he's up slightly in class but when he's on his game he can win at this price. The #3 TANGO MANGO is a consistent little guy that seldom runs a bad one; he was hung out in the three path last time but is better drawn today so BEWARE !!!

Race #6

1st - #3 Golden Pursuit | 2nd - #7 Coeur Joie | 3rd - #2 Afternoon Express

COMMENTARY : The #2 GOLDEN PURSUIT hasn't been as effective this year in his distance races (his sprints earlier this year were excellent) and will get an easier assignment down here for $25,000 and I think he'll get back on track against this group. The #7 COEUR JOIE was a solid third with better last time and looks good in this spot as well. The #2 AFTERNOON EXPRESS was a distant second in his latest but seems to be coming around and is capable at this level.

Race #7

1st - #6 Royal Sovereign | 2nd - #3 Californiatruegrit | 3rd - #1 Tyger Gold

COMMENTARY : The #6 ROYAL SOVEREIGN was an impressive winner of the $53,000 Ladnesian last July but went to the sidelines after that race; he's been away from the races for over a year which makes this a tough task first time out but he's been going well and resurfaces in this allowance event that I think he can win. The #3 CALIFORNIATRUEGRIT is probably the best sprinter in the race but has his speed been taken out of him with those two distance races ?? If he repeats his allowance score of earlier this year he probably won't get beat. The #1 TYGER GOLD is shortening up in distance and stepping up slightly in class but he could be up to the task as he was very game in winning last time and he looks like a colt on the improve.

Race #8

1st - #7 Shirleyanne | 2nd - #1 Dashboard Daisy | 3rd - #4 Acknowledge

COMMENTARY : The #7 SHIRLEYANNE fought on well going long last time and with her cutting back in distance to a sprint I think she'll get the job done. The #1 DASHBOARD DAISY has had her share of troubles in her first two starts this year and with the rail she might finally get a clean trip and get a better placing. The #4 ACKNOWLEDGE chased a fast pace and held well to be third and she must be respected off of that effort.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND HAVE A GREAT DAY AT THE RACES !!!
