Mike's Race Analysis July 14, 2007
Race #1
1st - #2 Paulswithdavid | 2nd - #4 Arkansas Bankroll | 3rd - #3 Sideline
COMMENTARY : The #2 PAULSWITHDAVID had a rough trip while checking in third in his latest but with him moving inside of his chief rival I think he can turn the tables today. His main threat of course is the #4 ARKANSAS BANKROLL who had a perfect trip through on the rail in that same dash and ran on well to be second in a good time; there isn't much between the top two except the price. The #3 SIDELINE took advantage of a wild pace (21.80 then 44.80) to win a non-two event at this same tag; he moves up to this non-three and will need the top two to make some mistakes if he's to win another.
Race #2
1st - #6 Magna Force | 2nd - #1 Dr. J.C. | 3rd - #3 Montello
COMMENTARY : The #6 MAGNA FORCE ran a much improved race in his latest and if he can show the same kind of early speed this afternoon he could pull off the minor upset. The #1 DR. J.C. actually broke with the field for the first time in his career and chased the pace in his runner-up effort two weeks ago; he has the rail which is a tough spot for him and I'm concerned that he won't break as well as he did last time and if that's the case then the advantage swings to the #6 MAGNA FORCE. The #3 MONTELLO has turning in some brilliant drills in the a.m. and if ready this guy could threaten as this isn't the toughest of spots to debut.
Race #3
1st - #1 Star Prospector | 2nd - #5 Serengeti Sunrise | 3rd - #2 Steady Pace
COMMENTARY : The #1 STAR PROSPECTOR ran reasonably well in his first start finishing third and since has turned in a couple of good five-eighths works so with the rail and first time Lasix I think he'll be tough to beat. The #5 SERENGETI SUNRISE has the best of the works in the lineup but lacks the experience that some of her rivals have; if the price is right take a shot on her. The #2 STEADY PACE worked a solid five-eighths prior to her last race which was an improved runner-up placing; speed and experience are two big factors playing for her.
Race #4
1st - #2 Tappen To Time | 2nd - #3 Sarah Haras | 3rd - #1 Entry
COMMENTARY : The #2 TAPPEN TO TIME had a wide trip in her comeback race so finishing fifth beaten less than four lengths wasn't all that bad; she's drawn better today and could be tough to catch. The #2 SARAH HARAS chased a quick pace in her return for $8,000; she's down to the $5,000 level today and sports a sharp work. The #1 GOLD GIRL and the #1a STAR CORAL form a decent entry that could get a big piece of the purse if the top two get into a heated battle early.
Race #5
1st - #7 Zippy Zak | 2nd - #8 Rampoldi | 3rd - #4 Lucky Cahill
COMMENTARY : The #7 ZIPPY ZAK just missed in an excellent time (1:17.80) to a stubborn pace-setter in Quagmire but with this race coming up a tad easier he'll just need a repeat performance to get the money this afternoon. The #8 RAMPOLDI had a tough trip last time racing much of the trip in the three path which made it impossible to win; he's drawn on the outside again but might be able to get a better trip this time and if he does then he has the ability to threaten my top pick for the win. The #4 LUCKY CAHILL is exiting a couple of tough heats and will appreciate this easier competition. SOLID TRIACTA THREAT !!
Race #6
1st - #5 Grayross Gal | 2nd - #2 Regal Dream | 3rd - #4 Klinsman's Luck
COMMENTARY : The #5 GRAYROSS GAL has always been solid at this level and distance and with no real toughie in the lineup against her she looks great in this spot. The #2 REGAL DREAM is exiting conditional $20,000 claiming races in which she fared pretty well; she has a better post for her style and should be a strong pace factor. The #4 KLINSMAN'S LUCK has been lightly raced this year and is taking a significant dip in price so it's a tough call with her but the talent is certainly there to win.
Race #7
1st - #4 Archery | 2nd - #5 Alpine Lass | 3rd - #2 Dancing Melody
COMMENTARY : The #4 ARCHERY had an encouraging debut finishing third in a 'key race' which produced three next-out winners; she's well-bred and has an excellent worktab in preparation for today's race. The #5 ALPINE LASS is the only filly to have graced the winner's circle winning in a very fast time going three and a half furlongs but with her having just the one five-eighths work she's beatable at this longer trip. The #2 DANCING MELODY is another with a solid pedigree and she's been training nicely for her debut so beware.
Race #8
1st - #1 Classic County | 2nd - #3 Classic Show | 3rd - #5 Six Point O
COMMENTARY : The #1 CLASSIC COUNTY was a game runner-up in a fast time (1:17.40) at this same level and just needs to repeat to win against this group. The #3 CLASSIC SHOW finished three lengths behind my top pick in that same quick heat which makes him the next best in this dash. The #5 SIX POINT O finished second in his latest going long which was a race I thought he had every shot to win so I was a little disappointed; maybe he's a better sprinter ??
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND ENJOY YOUR AFTERNOON AT THE RACES !!!
