Mike's Race Analysis August 26, 2007
Race #1
1st - #5 Aragorn | 2nd - #2 Saxophone | 3rd - #4 Zoomington
COMMENTARY : The #5 ARAGORN comes into this race off of a good second place effort going long; he chased quick splits that day and held well so I think he has a big chance cutting back to a sprint this afternoon. The #2 SAXOPHONE has been working impressively for his debut and is bred to have speed and this race has come up light on early speed so this could be a good opportunity for him today. The #4 ZOOMINGTON was a little better last time and if there's a pace battle then he could be heard from in the late going.
Race #2
1st - #1 B R Remark | 2nd - #5 Victim Of Love | 3rd - #4 Mighty Cahill
COMMENTARY : The #1 B R REMARK is undefeated this year sprinting and is on his way to being crowned sprint champion; he's facing an easy test today and he should rack up another victory. The #5 VICTIM OF LOVE has excellent speed and will be loose on the lead early so he's the only one with a shot to knock off the heavy favourite. The #4 MIGHTY CAHILL is nice colt that is winless this year although he's been in some tough spots and he's found another one today but he should be in the TRIACTOR.
Race #3
1st - #6 Tappen To Time | 2nd - #4 Savin' Dimes | 3rd - #5 Regal Daniell
COMMENTARY : The #6 TAPPEN TO TIME was just reeled in late for second money in her latest after chasing the quick fractions that were set by Vye Me To The Moon; she was softened up on the pace that day but I don't think that'll happen today so I like her to go wire-to-wire. The #4 SAVIN' DIMES showed some life in her last race which was going long and is she continues to improve she'll be a big factor as well. The #5 REGAL DANIELL crushed a field of $2,500 claimers in Kamloops two weeks ago in her first start of the season; things are obviously tougher today but she's no stranger to the Hastings winner's circle.
Race #4
1st - #3 Sultry Eyes | 2nd - #2 Backseat Becka | 3rd - #7 Vye Me To The Moon
COMMENTARY : The #3 SULTRY EYES just missed in her last in a very quick time (1:17.20) against a very sharp filly and if she repeats that race against this group she'll win the money. The #2 BACKSEAT BECKA is down at a level where she's going to be dangerous but she drew inside which has always been tricky for her. The #7 VYE ME TO THE MOON tried to run off and hide last week but she was caught by three pretty nice mares and ended up fourth; she's coming back in just seven days but she's the lone speed so she still must be respected in this dash.
Race #5
1st - #1 Prosperito | 2nd - #3 Sexy Operator | 3rd - #8 Simply Rose
COMMENTARY : The #1 PROSPERITO is breezing through her conditions and I think she'll get another today; she's got the rail and really only one other pace filly to deal so I like her get her third consecutive victory. The #3 SEXY OPERATOR has been showing excellent speed on the tough Southern California circuit in open company races so with her dropping into this restricted non-three lifetime event she should be more of a factor. The #8 SIMPLY ROSE had a tough luck trip in her last as she had no racing room on the final turn but if she can get a better trip today she could surprise some people.
Race #6
1st - #6 Mullumbimby | 2nd - #4 Turbo Tommy | 3rd - #8 Azkaban
COMMENTARY : The #6 MULLUMBIMBY looked good in winning against a slightly easier field and will get to stretch out and go long today which is the distance that I feel will bring out the best in him. The #4 TURBO TOMMY couldn't quite get to a 'loose-lead' winner in his latest and even though he's still a maiden I like him at this distance and it's encouraging to see Mario stick with him. The #8 AZKABAN took advantage of a hotly contested pace and just got up for the win against a similar group; there isn't as much speed to help him out today but I still like him to hit the top three.
Race #7
1st - #2 Call Me Tomorrow | 2nd - #7 Star Prospector | 3rd - #6 Affiniti One
COMMENTARY : The #2 CALL ME TOMORROW was given a lot to do in his latest race which resulted in his first loss as Mario was riding him with a lot of confidence quickly putting him out in the three path early simply trying to stay clear of trouble, but when the #7 STAR PROSPECTOR came up with a huge effort off of the claim to finish in 1:18.20 it was hard for the #2 CALL ME TOMORROW to catch him after losing all the ground. I expect him to stay closer and not let their main competition get too far away and I'll gamble that the #2 CALL ME TOMORROW will turn the tables on the #7 STAR PROSPECTOR this afternoon. The #6 AFFINITI ONE has shown some promise in his two runs so far and I like his chances of continuing to improve and get in the top three.
Race #8
1st - #2 Amazing Luck | 2nd - #5 Sophisticated Star | 3rd - #7 Mundare
COMMENTARY : The #2 AMAZING LUCK scored an easy win in her first start on Lasix and did it in a very impressive time and I'll take a shot that she can sit the trip in second just off of the speedy #5 SOPHISTICATED STAR and outrun her in the final quarter-mile. The #5 SOPHISTICATED STAR showed excellent speed again but also failed to hold the lead in a race I didn't think she should've lost; she'll need to be better if she's to win but she's still a solid TRIACTOR and SUPERFECTA play. The #7 MUNDARE has been in good form of late and if the top two hook up early then she could get all the money.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!
