Mike's Race Analysis August 11, 2007
Race #1
1st - #3 Cousin Wilbur | 2nd - #5 Chianti Dancer | 3rd - #1 Tribal Secret
COMMENTARY : The #3 COUSIN WILBUR has been working well for his debut and with him facing primarily fillies today he could be 'live' at first asking. The #5 CHIANTI DANCER was a good second to her entry-mate in her first try around two turns; she has speed and should be in a good striking position on the outside of the #4 STEADY PACE. The #1 TRIBAL SECRET will race on Lasix for her first start at six panels; her works have been solid and she'll likely improve a lot today.
Race #2
1st - #5 Ebonys Silver Star | 2nd - #4 Ms Alberta | 3rd - #1 Dakota Dream'n
COMMENTARY : The #5 EBONYS SILVER STAR is back in at the claimed price of $5,000 for her owners who have opted to wait the 25 days and run her right back for the same price; she should've won that day and will just need a clean trip this afternoon to get the job done. The #4 MS ALBERTA is in at her preferred distance and should be more of a factor today. The #1 DAKOTA DREAM'N closes up nicely in the stretch on occasion to get a minor award and I think that'll be the case again today.
Race #3
1st - #1 Entry | 2nd - #5 Goldy Fox | 3rd - #3 Shalene
COMMENTARY : The #1 DREAM QUEEN and the #1a CALL HER KELLY look like tough duo to beat although neither really has any early speed which could be a problem but I'll gamble that one of them leaves the latch a little better today and gets into a decent spot early. The #5 GOLDY FOX is lightly raced and could improve on her second and fourth place finishes so far this year. The #3 SHALENE might be the speed of the race and she was much better in blinkers last time out. PACE FACTOR !!
Race #4
1st - #4 Amazing Luck | 2nd - #3 Afleet B's | 3rd - #7 Splash Power
COMMENTARY : The #4 AMAZING LUCK looked very good in her '07 debut at long odds finishing second in a fast time for the level; she just needs to repeat her last race and the winner's cheque is hers. The #3 AFLEET B'S improved a bit in blinkers last week (she made the course) and even finishing sixth that type of effort could be good enough to hit the board. The #7 SPLASH POWER should be a little tougher today after battling (at least she'll get something out of the race) on the pace last time out.
Race #5
1st - #7 Direct Ally | 2nd - #2 Slick Victor | 3rd - #5 Jusnorton
COMMENTARY : The #7 DIRECT ALLY was a game third with older horses last week in a good time so with him back in with straight three year olds he should be tough to beat. The #2 SLICK VICTOR is bred to handle this longer trip and has been very sharp of late so he should be a major factor. The # 5 JUSNORTON will go without blinkers for the first time in hopes of bringing out a better effort from him; he has won at this trip.
Race #6
1st - #1 Miss Soul | 2nd - #6 B My Dream | 3rd - #7 About Midnight
COMMENTARY : The #1 MISS SOUL looks to be the speed of the race and is down at a level where she should get the money; the last time she was in at this tag she got herself beat by ducking out sharply on the final turn but if she behaves today then she'll win the money. The #6 B MY DREAM ran pretty well considering she was a real problem in the starting gate; it was just her first race of the year so she's likely to improve. The #7 ABOUT MIDNIGHT has had back-to-back seconds at this level but her numbers just haven't quite been good enough to get the win; TRIACTOR threat.
Race #7
1st - #8 Angelina B | 2nd - #3 Mystic Pass | 3rd - #10 Anywaythewindblows
COMMENTARY : The #8 ANGELINA B is definitely the one to beat as she returns to the $8,000 restricted company after a good race with open $11,000 mares; her last win was at the same price but in a non-two lifetime, this is a non-three but a pretty soft one so I think she gets back into the winner's circle today. The #3 MYSTIC PASS has been tackling much tougher competition and might surprise a few people in this dash. VALUE PLAY !!! The #10 ANYWAYTHEWINDBLOWS has drawn poorly for her style but is still a pace threat.
Race #8
1st - #8 Love'n Yoo | 2nd - #5 Highfivenhighnees | 3rd - #3 Sparklin Chrome
COMMENTARY : The #8 LOVE 'N YOO is from a good family and has been working well for a barn that has been going very well of late. The #5 HIGHFIVENHIGHNEES has the fastest of the works of all of the runners (eight first time starters) and is perfectly drawn in gate five. The #3 SPARKLIN CHROME has a speed pedigree and hails from an excellent two year old barn.
THANKS FOR JOINING US ON-LINE AND GOOD LUCK THIS AFTERNOON !!!
