Mike's Race Analysis September 16, 2007

Race #1

1st - #3 End Result | 2nd - #7 Lunar Seven | 3rd - #1 Mundare

COMMENTARY : The #3 END RESULT looks to have a field that should be to her liking as there's at least four speed type fillies that will be trying for early position and that will definitely aid her chances being an off-the-pace filly. The #7 LUNAR SEVEN was an easy winner sprinting in her latest and actually her lone try at this trip was very good as well but her chances rely heavily on the other quick fillies that are in this race. The #1 MUNDARE is sharp right now and hails from a 'red-hot' barn and even though this may not be her best distance she still could be a big factor.

Race #2

1st - #6 W W Turbo | 2nd - #2 Jokers Wild | 3rd - #5 Stylen Jaynee

COMMENTARY : The #6 W W TURBO looks good in his debut and if he breaks just a tad better then he should win the money. The #2 JOKERS WILD was a little wide in his lone run and plenty of changes happening (new barn, Lasix and a blinker change) we could see a big improvement in him. The #5 STYLEN JAYNEE has some nice works and is bred to be quick so keep an eye on her.

Race #3

1st - #4 Mudchute | 2nd - #3 Toni The Iceman | 3rd - #5 P S Commander

COMMENTARY : The #4 MUDCHUTE seems to be a better runner since altering his running style and taking him from a little off the pace and with this dash coming a speed crazy I think he'll get a perfect trip and win the cash. The #3 TONI THE ICEMAN is a versatile type that seldom runs a bad one so he will take a lot of money at the windows but he did hit the 'vet's list' after his latest win and resurfaces for less money than they paid for him so he may be a beatable favourite today. The #5 P S COMMANDER has speed to burn and that'll be the strategy again today so if he can shake loose early (which I'm gambling that he doesn't) then he may never be caught.

Race #4

1st - #7 Archery | 2nd - #6 Queen's Emblem | 3rd - #5 Irish Delta

COMMENTARY : The #7 ARCHERY is in a much kinder spot this afternoon after tackling stakes fillies in last two starts; she's has some speed so I look for her to get a good trip which all I feel she needs to beat this group. The #6 QUEEN'S EMBLEM looked good in her debut finishing third and with two solid prep works and leading rider staying with her I think she's the main competition to my top pick. The #5 IRISH DELTA turned in a quick five furlong drill from the gate (1:00.40) and could make her presence felt today after racing a little greenly in her debut.

Race #5

1st - #8 Country Kat | 2nd - #1 Dramatic Charmer | 3rd - #4 Call Her Kelly

COMMENTARY : The #8 COUNTRY KAT has been racing with the much tougher open $20,000 mares and faring quite well but she really isn't in at her best distance today but with two speed fillies in here ensuring a quick pace she might be able to get up and win in this restricted non-two event. The #1 DRAMATIC CHARMER is another that has been racing with tougher company and is likely to get a nice trip and should have first run at any tiring speed. The #4 CALL HER KELLY was a no-threat third in her last but with a pace duel looking likely she's another off-the-pace type that could with a good trip get the money; leading rider in the irons won't hurt her chances any either.

Race #6

1st - #6 Captain Jade | 2nd - #3 Northern Skipper | 3rd - #2 Imperialist

COMMENTARY : The #6 CAPTAIN JADE came with a good late run to get the runner-up spot in his comeback race and with a ton of speed signing on in this dash again he should once again be a big presence in the stretch. The #3 NORTHERN SKIPPER just lost second late after battling on the head end through some demanding early splits but with the same pace scenario looming he might be vulnerable in the late going again today. The #2 IMPERIALIST dropped in to get a win at the non-two $8,000 level three weeks ago and if he can settle and take the same tracking trip that he did that day he could be a big factor as well.

Race #7

1st - #3 Artic Star | 2nd - #8 Alarico | 3rd - #5 Affiniti One

COMMENTARY : The #3 ARTIC STAR has a string of excellent morning trials and with leading rider opting to ride this guy (could've rode a few others) I won't be surprised if this one is very 'live' in his debut. The #8 ALARICO has been very game in both career starts so far and I would've picked him on top if he hadn't lost his rider to the #3 ARTIC STAR and if he wasn't coming back to run in seven days; he's plenty good enough to beat this crew but those were the two main factors that made me lean towards the #3 ARTIC STAR. The #5 AFFINITI ONE hit the fringes in his first stakes try but with him back in with maidens he'll be more of a force especially if he can get a decent pace set in front of him.

Race #8

1st - #9 Minutes Apart | 2nd - #2 Yolanda | 3rd - #8 Ebonys Silver Star

COMMENTARY : The #9 MINUTES APART really isn't at her best at this shorter trip but I think she's the best filly in the race and the post will help her as she should be able to gallop up on the outside and either be on the lead or in a perfect striking position. The #2 YOLANDA looks like the best 'closer' in the group and if she can get a bit of a pace going on up front then her chances improve greatly. The #8 EBONYS SILVER STAR might be able to take advantage of the fact that this race is really void of speed so the break will be crucial for her and if she can set a sensible tempo she's be tough to reel in.

Race #9

1st - #1 Gold Ticket | 2nd - #6 Ronaldino | 3rd - #3 Royal Sovereign

COMMENTARY : The #1 GOLD TICKET was so impressive in his latest victory sitting close to a very quick pace then finding another gear and motoring on to a comfortable score; he loses his pilot but I don't think it'll matter if he runs like he did that day. The #6 RONALDINO has been on the sidelines since injuring himself in the Alberta Derby but he seems to be working well and if he can return to his earlier sprint form he'll be tough to beat. The #3 ROYAL SOVEREIGN was far too sharp in the Derby Trial and got himself in all sorts of trouble and finished well back but he's returning to a sprint and with the likely possibly of a very quick pace being set he could get set up for a big piece of the purse.

Race #10

1st - #3 Wanna Be Foxy | 2nd - #1 Big Deal Lucille | 3rd - #4 Goldy Fox

COMMENTARY : The #3 WANNA BE FOXY lost second late to the #1 BIG DEAL LUCILLE but considering she was the one doing all the running on the head end and challenged the whole way I thought she ran the better race of the two even though she ended up third so I'll put the #WANNA BE FOXY on top and put the #1 BIG DEAL LUCILLE in the second spot. The balance of the field kind of look the same so it'll tough to pick out a third one for the TRIACTA and SUPERFECTA but I'll try the #4 GOLDY FOX who has been racing with better and looks like one that might enjoy this longer trip.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!!!
