Mike's Race Analysis June 23, 2007

Race #1

1st - #5 Magneto | 2nd - #8 Unspoken Thoughts | 3rd - #1 Go Strider

COMMENTARY : The #5 MAGNETO has trained in quick fashion for his debut and comes from a barn that has already produced two winners at this same trip. The #8 UNSPOKEN THOUGHTS exits a 'live' heat in which she finished fifth; she's been given a little rest and sports a good work for her return. The #1 GO STRIDER hasn't done anything wrong in her two starts coming in a distant second on both occasions but she seems to be a filly that can only run in 41 seconds which usually is NOT good enough to win at this distance, it's usually good enough to get on-the-board so another TRIACTA placing seems likely.

Race #2

1st - #6 Toni The Iceman | 2nd - #2 Ranglin Road | 3rd - #7 Dancinfor Diamonds

COMMENTARY : The #6 TONI THE ICEMAN was claimed out a winning effort at this level and with no real speed in here to pressure on him he looks like a repeat winner. The #2 RANGLIN ROAD is back in with straight three year olds and has drawn a nice post for his style so I expect a better result this afternoon. The #7 DANCINFOR DIAMONDS was well back in his first start for $50,000 but makes a considerable drop today and if he can get some of his form of last year back he definitely has a shot. LONGSHOT CHANCE !!

Race #3

1st - #8 Six Point O | 2nd - #6 Direct Ally | 3rd - #4 Santino

COMMENTARY : The #8 SIX POINT O was a no-threat third with much tougher last time and appears to be a one-paced type that will love this longer trip. The #6 DIRECT ALLY was all over the course in his first try going long and still battled all the way to the wire; he was impressive and just needs a better trip. The #4 SANTINO looks like another one-paced type that can't win sprinting but definitely should improve with distance change and the easier opponents.

Race #4

1st - #3 Rip Cord | 2nd - #4 Justifiably | 3rd - #2 Hopingandwishing

COMMENTARY : The #3 RIP CORD was stuck down on the inside at the quarter-pole and had no racing room on the final turn which led to his disappointing eighth place finish but with him at his best distance today he'll just a clear trip to win the money. The #4 JUSTIFIABLY is down in class today and looks like a strong wire-to-wire candidate. The #2 HOPINGANDWISHING was too sharp last time and ended up on the lead which isn't his normal running style, I'm sure he'll be rated better today which will obviously give him a good chance with these easier foes.

Race #5

1st - #3 Mayne's Finale | 2nd - #4 Dressed As A Star | 3rd - #2 Tango Beat

COMMENTARY : The #3 MAYNE'S FINALE was an easy winner last time and looked like a filly that is ready for tougher company; she should get the lead early and I think she'll be tough to catch. The #4 DRESSED AS A STAR wasn't really a factor when the running started in her return to the races after a two year layoff but has a little more conditioning and will face an easier group of fillies so she should improve. The #2 TANGO BEAT has worked very quickly in preparation for today's race and will be better after her disappointing run on opening weekend.

Race #6

1st - #4 Alferrari | 2nd - #5 Proud Son | 3rd - #6 Earl's Diamond

COMMENTARY : The #4 ALFERRARI looked awesome in winning at this same tag and with him getting a favourable post he's definitely the one to beat. The #5 PROUD SON moves to the outside of his main rival and I think that'll be a good thing for him as he's always been a better horse when racing on the outside (seems uncomfortable down on the rail) so he may be able to turn the tables. The #6 EARL'S DIAMOND is making his first start of the year at a reduced price after a successful three year old campaign; this barn is still going very well and it would be no surprise to see this guy win.

Race #7

1st - #2 Entry | 2nd - #3 Land Of Silver | 3rd - #5 About Midnight

COMMENTARY : The #2 SHEISROUGH looks to be the speed of the race and with her down in price she looks solid in this spot; she won't have to go anywhere as quick to get position today so she should have plenty left in the tank for the stretch drive. The #3 LAND OF SILVER did very well to get third after a slow pace was set in front of her so if things get a little heated early in the race she'll be the one comes flying from off-the-pace for the win. The #5 ABOUT MIDNIGHT was a (crashed around a bit) little nervous in the gate so I thought she ran reasonably well with all things considered; she'll need to be better in the gate and if she is then she'll get a big piece of the purse.

Race #8

1st - #3 Long Journey | 2nd - #2 Gold Ticket | 3rd - #6 Bold Knockout

COMMENTARY : The #3 LONG JOURNEY was in a bunch of trouble down on the inside and was held up for quite awhile and still managed to get the runner-up spot so with the smaller field he should get clear sailing which is all he needs for another victory. The #2 GOLD TICKET was hung out wide on both turns in his last run at this level but with a nice post and a probable contested pace in front of him he'll be a big factor as well. The #6 BOLD KNOCKOUT was very game in his maiden win three weeks ago but he'll need to avoid a pace duel if he's to win again today.

Race #9

1st - #3 Monashee | 2nd - #1 Starlite Strike | 3rd - #2 No Ka Oi

COMMENTARY : The #3 MONASHEE is simply the best horse on the grounds and the 125 pound impost surely won't bother her against these fillies which are primarily made of optional $50,000 claimers; she should get the lead early and I'm sure she'll have it late as well. The #1 STARLITE STRIKE was second to MONASHEE in the $52,000 Senate Appointee then came back to get a sprint win as a tune-up for this race; if anyone does pull off a major upset it's likely to be her. The #2 NO KA OI is the only filly to have a distance race under her belt finishing third in an allowance event in Calgary; she's been in good form this year and should be in a battle for the PLACE spot.

Race #10

1st - #4 Winter Chill | 2nd - #5 Regal Lass | 3rd - #6 Fancy One

COMMENTARY : The #4 WINTER CHILL was good second at long odds in her '07 debut and looks as good as anything else in this very soft maiden event. The #5 REGAL LASS will go on Lasix today after her third place effort with slightly tougher; she had to chase a hot pace that day and actually might be on the lead in this dash. The #6 FANCY ONE had a rough trip in her latest and could only manage a small pay cheque but with a better journey today she could get all the money.

THANKS FOR JOINING US ON-LINE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY AT THE RACES !!!
