Mike's Race Analysis June 2, 2007
Race #1
1st - #4 Ourangelsinheaven | 2nd - #7 Go Strider | 3rd - #5 Sultan Of Skat
COMMENTARY : The #4 OURANGELSINHEAVEN is bred to be quick out a Bold Laddie mare and by win early stallion Vying Victor, she has tuned up nicely for her debut and hails from a strong two year old outfit. The #7 GO STRIDER did everything right in her first start checking in a distant second, she has the experience edge on most and that edge wins horses many races at this short trip. The #5 SULTAN OF SKAT had a sharp move ten days ago and must be considered strongly off of that quick morning prep.
Race #2
1st - #1 Entry | 2nd - #6 Launch Our Star | 3rd - #3 Jennifer Jones
COMMENTARY : The #1 MAMA KAY and the #1a SHEISROUGH form a very strong duo that should be tough to beat this afternoon. I like the #1a SHEISROUGH slightly more as she's dropping down out of 'live' maiden allowance heat and she has good gate speed which will allow her to get into a good spot early; if she gets a little tired late it's nice to have the other half of the entry closing late. The #6 LAUNCH OUR STAR is another dropping out that salty maiden allowance dash and has the speed to be dangerous with this group. The #3 JENNIFER JONES wasn't disgraced in her career debut as raced broke a little slow then rushed up three wide to get in contention, she got tired in the stretch but still managed to hold fourth money. DEFINITE IMPROVER SO BEWARE !!!
Race #3
1st - #1 Pingita | 2nd - #5 Fleet Star | 3rd - #2 Alfaarimiss
COMMENTARY : The #1 PINGITA is in with three year fillies after a try with the older mares a race in which she bled and she'll race on Lasix for the first time today. She has speed but will need to break better if she's to get the lead this afternoon; good solid final work and easier company indicates a much better performance today. The #5 FLEET STAR was very good in her final two starts last fall and shouldn't be discounted after one disappointing run with better, she too has the speed to be a factor. The #2 ALFAARIMISS beat up on an easier field of filly maidens but her numbers plot very nicely with this group so I expect another good showing from her.
Race #4
1st - #2 Somekindatuff | 2nd - #4 Imperialist | 3rd - #7 Six Point O
COMMENTARY : The #2 SOMEKINDATUFF added Lasix and blinkers and turned in a huge performance finishing second after getting into a speed duel. He put away all challengers early but couldn't hold off the winner who came from off of the pace; he's up in class but I think he'll get the lead with this group and I think he'll continue to improve which will make him tough to catch. The #4 IMPERIALIST was scratched 'sick' a couple of weeks ago so he's obviously missed some training since his no-threat sixth place run with maiden allowance types. He looks good on paper but I'll put him in the runner-up spot. The #7 SIX POINT O is dropping in price but does face older horses in here which is always a bit more difficult than running with your own age group; his lack of speed will hurt him from an outside draw but I still think he's a TRIACTA play.
Race #5
1st - #2 Regal Roo | 2nd - #8 Mayne's Finale | 3rd - #10 Left To Chance
COMMENTARY : The #2 REGAL ROO overcame an outside post in her last to almost get the runner-up spot finishing a length behind her chief rival today #8 MAYNE'S FINALE. The post positions are switched today and I'll gamble that results will switch as well. The #8 MAYNE'S FINALE was much better prepared in the gate last time and it led to a solid performance; she's definitely the one to beat and the only reason I went against her was her outside post. The #10 LEFT TO CHANCE will try blinkers after an even effort finishing fourth, she too has been saddled with a tough post but I think has the ability to overcome it and get a big piece of the purse.
Race #6
1st - #6 Pinuccia | 2nd - #5 Just Callme Blonde | 3rd - #7 Loud Linda
COMMENTARY : The #6 PINUCCIA turned in an excellent showing in a sprint two weeks ago and now gets to stretch out to her best distance so she should be very tough to hold off today. The #5 JUST CALLME BLONDE looks like the main danger as she has speed and also two wins at this distance but the obvious knock against her today is that she's making her first start of the year going long which is always a tough task. CAPABLE !! The #7 LOUD LINDA closed from off-the-pace to win a very soft non-two event in a slow time but still looks to be the best of the balance. UNPROVEN AT THIS DISTANCE !!
Race #7
1st - #7 Hold On Sugar | 2nd - #1 Entry | 3rd - #6 Yolanda
COMMENTARY : The #7 HOLD ON SUGAR finished a game fourth while making her first start in nearly two years; she's down to the bottom claiming price although this particular race has come up pretty salty for the level. I'll take her to win it but she'll need to be very good to beat the likes of the #1 ENTRY led by the class-dropping #1 VYE ME TO THE MOON. Both halves of the #1 ENTRY have speed although the #1 VYE ME TO THE MOON is likely to reserve herself early (she's the more versatile of the two) and try and bail out her stable mate who has been getting very tired in the lane lately. The best races last year for the #1a BUILT THIS CITY were without blinkers and she'll race without them today. The #6 YOLANDA is yet another taking a class tumble and with all of the potential speed in here she'll undoubtedly be heard from in the late going.
Race #8
1st - #7 Klinsman's Luck | 2nd - #9 By Magic | 3rd - #3 K.D. Day
COMMENTARY : The #7 KLINSMAN'S LUCK is getting a much easier assignment for her second start of the young season; she actually ran better than it appears and should be very tough on the class drop. The same goes for the #9 BY MAGIC who is taking an identical drop in price off of a race that was compromised by her poor draw and as luck would have it for her she's drawn an outside gate for the third consecutive time but at this level might be able to work out a win. The #3 K.D. DAY has the best speed and could prove to be very stubborn if left alone through the early stages. WIRE-TO-WIRE THREAT !!
Race #9
1st - #7 Dramatic Charmer | 2nd - #1 End Result | 3rd - #2 Shirleyanne
COMMENTARY : The #7 DRAMATIC CHARMER wasn't a threat in either of her starts at the $25,000 level but with her down for $8,000 this afternoon she must be given strong consideration especially with this dash coming up pretty soft. The #1 END RESULT was a distant third in her '07 debut and will take a slight drop today but her lack of speed hurts so she'll still need some luck to beat this group. The #2 SHIRLEYANNE improved noticeably in her second start of the year as she showed some speed and hung in tough right down to the wire; this race has come up tougher with a few fillies taking drops in class but she's still the one with the best last-race performance.
Race #10
1st - #5 Africameetsindia | 2nd - #2 Olympic Dawn | 3rd - #1 Belle Of Rainier
COMMENTARY : The #5 AFRICAMEETSINDIA was set up beautifully with a three way speed duel last time and it looks like she'll get the same good fortune today with four speed fillies in this six horse field. The #2 OLYMPIC DAWN ran a winning race in her '07debut but was pushed too hard early and it cost her late as she finished third; she'll need some luck on the head end. The #1 BELLE OF RAINIER defeated an easier crew in her career debut in a slow time; she bled and will race on Lasix so don't be surprised to see her in winner's circle again. LIKELY TO IMPROVE !!!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!
