SPAGHETTI MOUSE STRIKES AGAIN

Vancouver, B.C. (July 1, 2006) – It was a case of déjà vu for owners Nick and Pauline Felicella on Canada Day with a rousing victory by Spaghetti Mouse in the $125,000 Grade 3 Lieutenant Governors Stakes at Hastings Racecourse.

Spaghetti Mouse, an upset winner in last year’s British Columbia Derby, paid a whopping $37.50 in beating heavily-favoured Quiet Cash by a half-length over the 1 1/8 mile feature that drew a field of 10 horses.

Trained by Gary Demorest and ridden to victory by Dave Wilson, Spaghetti Mouse caught Quiet Cash at the wire. Bull Ranch finished third.

"Once he settled down it was sort of like the same trip as last year in the Derby," Wilson said. "The horse had some run at the end."

The $2 Exacta paid $121.50, the $2Triacta paid $460.80 and the $2 Superfecta paid $1,111.95.
