Our Mandate At Hastings In 2009: Affordable, Comfortable & Enjoyable

April 15, 2009

The year 2009 represents a significant, break-through season at Hastings Racecourse. A healthy 76-day thoroughbred meet complemented by a full gaming floor with 600 slot machines makes Hastings one of the most popular entertainment destinations in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.

In these difficult economic times, there are very few – if any – sporting attractions that welcome customers without charging an admission fee. Hastings Racecourse does.

There are very few – if any – sporting entities that guarantee a safe environment in a choice of secure on-site locations. Hastings Racecourse does.

There are very few – if any – entertainment complexes that can compare to the thrill of a glistening, 1,000-pound racehorse thundering down the home stretch with a 110-pound jockey urging the gifted animal to victory. Hastings Racecourse does.

Affordable. Comfortable. Enjoyable. Those are our goals in 2009.

We’re hoping you will make many visits in the upcoming months to Hastings, where we are proud to present some of the most dedicated and talented owners, trainers, jockeys and horses in the thoroughbred industry. They are the real stars of the show.

Krazy Koffee, named Horse of the Year and B.C.-bred Horse of the Year in 2008, returns after winning four major stakes for trainer Cindy Krasner. Other champions form 2008 back for more this season include Spaghetti Mouse, Against the Sky, El Sinaloense, What R the Odds and P.S. Good N Ready.

Leading jockey Mario Gutierrez will be looking to make it three titles in a row but he’ll have plenty of opposition from regulars Dave Wilson, Frank Fuentes, Pedro Alvarado and returning leading apprentice jockey Stephanie Fedora.

The excitement begins this coming weekend at Hastings with start times of 1:25 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
