LADY RAJ &  REMARKABLE MISS SCORE STAKES WINS AT HASTINGS

Vancouver, B.C. (July 5/08) -- Lady Raj went solo without her running mate in the $50,000 Vancouver Sun Handicap and carried the colours for owners Glen Todd and Patrick Kinsella in winning style Saturday afternoon at Hastings Racecourse.

Lady Raj and Holy Nova had been entered as an entry but Holy Nova, with a date in Edmonton next week, was scratched. With leading jockey Mario Gutierrez up, Lady Raj stalked the pace from the inside, rallied from between horses on the final turn and drew clear driving, winning in a final time of 1:45.92. Lady Raj, trained by Troy Taylor, paid $3.40, $2.60, $2.20.  

 Remarkable Miss won by a head over Juvee Hall in the $50,000 Supernaturel Handicap.   Ridden by Frank Fuentes and trained by Barb Heads, Remarkable Miss stalked the pace from the rail, gained the lead on the final turn and held off Juvee Hall by the slimmest of margins in a winning time of 1:47.34.  Remarkable Miss, owned by Leif Nordahl, paid $5.00, $2.70 and $2.10.  

The $50,000 Chris Loseth Handicap is the featured stakes Sunday at Hastings with Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame jockey Chris Loseth making an appearance as guest decorator.
